As for J-Unread's ::YAWN:: s -- funny how he even considers a picture of an American serviceman cradling a wounded or dead child in his arms as something worth YAWNING about. The only dead children he is interested in is ones that he can try to blame Israel for.

No just kidding. Some of it is false. But that's not even the important part. What you post is horribly biased. It only tells one side of the story, when there is most certainly more than one side of the story in this conflict. -

Tue, September 5, 2006 - 11:20 PMJuanita,
You're right, other people say false things too.
There is something very revealing about your response to Adam, that you perceive him trying to put you down. You speak volumes at times about yourself, and your message is really clear. Do you think people try to assert authority over you when they make an observation that is critical? What purpose would that serve anyone? When you say to me (or anyone else) that something is ridiculous or unimportant, are you hoping that I'll feel ashamed or insulted?
"Of course you will not demonstrate the "horrible" bias, any more than you will prove that I lie"
Has anyone suggested that you lie? You are the only one to bring that up.
You are just too hard on yourself. It does not seem like you enjoy yourself here at all.
Isn't understanding a pursuit?
Don't respond to these questions, but think about why I ask them. It's not to insult or put you down, that is not my nature. Nor do I want you to feel judged, you are your toughest critic.

Re: Next Victim, Please
Tue, September 5, 2006 - 7:58 PM>>Really I want the bullshit _from both sides_ to stop so that we can talk out these issues and try to somehow find peace.
Oh pleas!. You have to want peace to find it. The only way to "talk out these issues" is to determine what the TRUTH is.
For example. The Palestinians have been telling us for years that the "settlements" were the "biggest obstacle to peace." So, lol and behold! Exhibit A: GAZA: The settlements/settlers leave... the Jews get out. There should be peace, right?
Wrong. There are rockets and kidnappings. There are attempted suicide bombers at the crossings.
Ergo, the TRUTH is -- the settlements are not the biggest obstacle to peace. Other issues now come up as excuses for the lack of peace. The TRUTH is, the Palestinians don't really want peace. They have been polled time and again and they are in favor of the Intifada. They want Israel destroyed. They see Ahmadinejad as a great conquering hero who will wipe Israel off the map, just as they worshipped the Kurd-Killer Saddam.
So don't talk to me about truth and bullshit. The bullshit is coming from you. Put up your proofs. Show my lies! That's what I'm here for. Show my "horrible" bias... if you can. If not, stop with the attacks and cheerleading for this tribe's biggest bigots, ie UnRed and his ilk. -

So we have a few more loose nuts - let's imagine there's one million of them. I picked a ludicrously high number to make a point. Imagine if there really were 1,000,000 suicide bombers. WOW.
We know it can't be anywhere near that high, if it was, there'd be a lot more of it. it's estimated to be a figure of only a few thousand POTENTIAL and several hundred actual cases. But it sure seems like a huge number, right? One Million would be huge. I picked an astonishngly high number for you, to make a point, and for you to live out your "YOU ISLAMOFASCIST BASTARDS" life dream. I'm giving you ONE MILLION TERRORISTS. Do some research.
Back in the day, Islam had a big jihad against Jews. They slaughtered or evicted them out of their new holy land, even though the Jews had been there for centuries.
More recently, in retribution for the creation of the Jewish state and Arabs being thrown out or fleeing from Israel, Arab states like Egypt evicted basically all of their Jews and stole all of their property.
But really... are don't argue with me just to make a point. Where is the genocide of the Palestinians? People are being killed (on both sides), but do you see a Rwanda, an Armenia, a Cambodia, or a Holocaust happening in the Middle East?? -

Sure, more Palestinians are being killed than Jews. Though, that is not from lack of trying on the Palestinian side.
I'm just disagreeing with Draco.
J-red, do you agree with Draco's choice of word -- "extermination"??
"Most of us are just trying to avoid a Zionist led extermination by the west."
The Palestinian population is actually increasing. And their situation bare no resemblance to the real genocides of Rwanda, Cambodia, Armenia, or the Holocaust.

Re: How many nuts to fill your own bowl?
Wed, September 6, 2006 - 1:49 PMThat's funny Adam - to look at Lebanon right now, you might get another picture entirely ;-)
However, I was speaking in broader terms. Media-heads who wish to characterize Muslims as crazy people that need elimination. People like Juanita who are trying to demonize Muslims to the public. All of whom ignore the opinions of most Muslims on those very topics. And then, when they see outrage over something like Lebanon, they see everyone as terrorists. Most of us wanted the US to stop giving Israel the green light. That's not unreasonable.
The video in question presented some very clear and well understood complaints about the US. He framed the entire argument as a plea to support, or at the minimum not vocally condemn, those terrorists. Did you miss that? He put it all as the reason that the Muslim public shouldn't condemn the violence against bystanders. The reason he did that is that most simply don't. Unfortunately, the one's that do are news. You have to learn to read between the lines. It's a matter of subtlety that's usually missed in the US.

Wed, September 6, 2006 - 5:23 PMAdam, what Draco just said is exactly what I got from that statement. I don't think Draco was saying that an "extermination" is taking place right now as we speak. I took it as saying that "some" people of power in Israel AND in the west are plea-ing for an "extermination." I do believe that some very powerful people in the Israeli and U.S. governments would truly love to completely wipe the Palestinians off the face of the earth. "Somebody" just recently posted an article by a neocon stating just that; that we should just "get rid" of the Palestinian people and actually tried to justify it by saying that the International community would "get over it" in a year or two but that the "long term objectives" (Palestinians no longer existing) would be worth it. I'll try to find the article for you later... -

Thu, September 7, 2006 - 9:32 PMj-unread summation: " Go kill yourself... "
let me assist j-unread by quoting from the "The Palestine National Charter" in 3/22/77 what their definition of a 'Palestinian' is.
<<Article 6. The Palestinians are those Arab citizens who were living normally in Palestine up to 1947, whether they remained or were expelled. Every child who was born to a Palestinian parent after this date whether in Palestine or outside is a Palestinian.
Article 7. Jews of Palestinian origin are considered Palestinians if they are willing to live peacefully and loyally in Palestine.>>
does the j-unread notice the discrimination of who is/isn't a Palestinian?? does j-unread notice that only the Palestinian Arabs have an inheritable condition and that only one parent need be Palestinian. does j-unread notice that only those Palestinian Jews can remain who are willing to live peacefully and loyally to Palestine??
why would the charter stipulate special definitions for one group and not for another, j-unread??
notice the date j-unread 1977.
before 1977 unwra has its special definition:
UNWRA: Palestine refugees WHO IS A PALESTINE REFUGEE? "Under UNRWA's operational definition, Palestine refugees are persons whose normal place of residence was Palestine between June ...

how interesting that arafat, the 'father' of the Palestinian people was an Egyptian.
so let's have j-unread chose: which one 1977 or 1950??
since the world of the middle east didn't start in 1950/1977 what did the locals and power brokers of the areas say before P.E. (Palestinian era)
we all know that hitti, the famous Arab historian said there was never such a country as Palestine.

we know that locals said that Palestine was a Zionist plot.
Statement by Auni Bey Abdul-Hadi to the Pell Commission in 1937

we know that the creation of the Palestinian people was a tactic:
"Yes, the existence of a separate Palestinian identity serves only tactical purposes. The founding of a Palestinian state is a new tool in the continuing battle against Israel..."
- Zuheir Muhsin, late Military Department head of the PLO and member of its Executive Council (Dutch daily Trouw, March 1977)
so what do we have j-unread. Palestine as a Zionist plot in 1937, proto-Palestine as defined under unwra in 1950 and the self definition of Palestinian in 1977.
so many choices so little reality! given that restriction, perhaps j-unread would have a go at it. perhaps he can demonstrate that he is moron when it comes to the really real! -

"Adam, what Draco just said is exactly what I got from that statement. I'll try to find the article for you later..." -

Sorry J-red, but I think that Halla actually has a valid point.
You brought up the point of the "Palestinians no longer existing"? I don't know how much we can discuss that without knowing who the Palestinians actually are. And there is not agreement on this at all.
Are the Palestinians a nationality without a state? Or are the Palestinians an ethnicity that leapt into creation 60 years ago?
Does which bank of the Jordan river your family lived on in 1946 determine your ethnicity?
What if the Palestinians no longer existed because their state re-merged with Jordan? Is that possible? Would that be a bad thing? -

Fri, September 8, 2006 - 5:59 AM"Sorry J-red, but I think that Halla actually has a valid point."
- Your being completely absurd Adam. Okay, for sake of argument. For the rest of my time here on this tribe, when I say the term "Palestinian" I am referring to:
- ALL OF THE FORMER OCCUPANTS OF MODERN DAY ISRAEL, 1947 AND PRIOR.*
- AND/OR ANY AND ALL FORMER OCCUPANTS OF THE GEOGRAPHICAL REGION ACCORDING TO THE 1920 BRITISH MANDATE OF PALESTINE. *
- AND/OR ANY AND EVERYBODY THAT WAS DISPLACED TO VARIOUS COUNTRIES AROUND THE REGION FROM 1948-1967.
- AND/OR ANY AND EVERYBODY WHO CURRENTLY RESIDES WITHIN THE GAZA STRIP AND/OR THE WEST BANK. *2
* Excludes Jews or Arabs/Muslims who continued, and/or currently reside in the state of Israel.
*2 Excludes Israeli settlements.
Please refer to the British Mandate of Palestine of 1920 if there are any further questions concerning who I am referring to from here-on when utilizing the term "Palestinian." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestine
Is that cleared up for you guys now? God forbid I ever say the term "Bostonian" or "Canadian" cuz that may be a little more difficult to clarify for you people. Now, could you clear something up for me? Who exactly are you referring to when you say "Israeli?" Or "Jew" even?
"You brought up the point of the "Palestinians no longer existing"? I don't know how much we can discuss that without knowing who the Palestinians actually are. And there is not agreement on this at all."
- Really? So all this time, whenever I said the term "Palestinian" you had absolutely no idea who I was referring to?
"Are the Palestinians a nationality without a state? Or are the Palestinians an ethnicity that leapt into creation 60 years ago?"
- The Palestinians are a collaborative people, displaced... without need for "genre-fication." -

Are you saying that Arabs who live in Israel are not Palestinian simply because they were on the west side of a rather arbitrary line drawn by the British in 1948? Or that they are Palestinian because they were to the east of a "temporary" cease fire line in 1948?
> AND/OR ANY AND EVERYBODY THAT WAS DISPLACED TO VARIOUS COUNTRIES AROUND THE REGION FROM 1948-1967.
Did the act of fleeing make them Palestinians? If they had stayed would have they been Israeli Arabs instead of Palestinian?
> AND/OR ANY AND ALL FORMER OCCUPANTS OF THE GEOGRAPHICAL REGION ACCORDING TO THE 1920 BRITISH MANDATE OF PALESTINE. *
So, you feel that _all Jordanians_ are Palestinian? Is that right?
What you thought was clear and simple, is actually a rather complex topic. -

Fri, September 8, 2006 - 7:15 AM"Are you saying that Arabs who live in Israel are not Palestinian simply because they were on the west side of a rather arbitrary line drawn by the British in 1948? Or that they are Palestinian because they were to the east of a "temporary" cease fire line in 1948?"
- Depends where they are today... Wouldn't Arabs who live in Israel be considered Israeli? Isn't that why I consider myself an American, and not British... or Native American for that matter?
"Did the act of fleeing make them Palestinians? If they had stayed would have they been Israeli Arabs instead of Palestinian?"
- Fleeing? Or being kicked out? uhhh... no they were Palestinian prior to Israel's creation as stated in the line regarding the British Mandate. Once Israel is created, doesn't that make Israel's citizen's Israeli? These are really stupid questions Adam.
"So, you feel that _all Jordanians_ are Palestinian? Is that right?"
- uhhh... no, there Jordanians aren't they? Just like you said. Pretty ridiculous question to ask if Jordanians are Palestinians? That's like asking if Americans are Hondurans... Anyway... Another supplement here if I may... "AND/OR ANY AND ALL FORMER OCCUPANTS OF THE GEOGRAPHICAL REGION ACCORDING TO THE 1920 BRITISH MANDATE OF PALESTINE. * " - WHO HAVE NOT BEEN RE-INSTITUDED UNDER ANOTHER NATION RECOGNIZED BY THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY. (This holds for the creation of possible "future nations" as well.)
"What you thought was clear and simple, is actually a rather complex topic."
- Uhhhh... no it's not really. Your turning into a complex topic. If you wanna discuss who, where, and what constitues a "Palestinian" legally, morally, or internationally recognized, thats fine... that's a completely different topic as to who I am referring to when mentioning the term "Palestinian." I thought everyone in here had somewhat of an understanding of what everyone else means when they say the term "Palestinian" for the sake of conversation. If not, then I guess this should've been discussed a long time ago huh? So basically your saying that there might be someone in this tribe, who, when I've said the word "Palestinian" in the past, thought I was referring to a f#cking baseball team?
You never answered my questions by the way.
P.S. You and Halla have been successfull in derailing this conversation. Congrats! -

Re: How many nuts to fill your own bowl?
Fri, September 8, 2006 - 8:18 AMKeeping adding your disclaimers.... and let's see where we end up.
> no they were Palestinian prior to Israel's creation as stated in the line regarding the British Mandate.
So, in 1919 they considered themselves part of Greater Syria
Then in 1920, everyone in the new Palestinian Mandate suddenly became Palestinians (except perhaps the Jews who lived there).
Then in 1946, all of the Palestinians in Jordan stopped being Palestinians and suddenly became Jordanians.
Then in 1948, all of the Palestinians who remained in the new state of Israel suddenly became Israeli. And, all of those who were absorbed by Jordan and Egypt stopped being Palestinian and became Jordanian and Egyptian, right?
Then, and this is classic, in 1967, Israel conquered the West Bank, Gaza. The Jordanians in the West Bank suddenly stopped being Jordanians and popped into existence as Palestinians, right?
Are those who fled from Israel, Palestinian refugees, or are they Israeli refugees?
If Palestinian refugees settled in Jordan would they stop being Palestinian and suddenly become Jordanian?
What questions am I ignoring?
> So all this time, whenever I said the term "Palestinian" you had absolutely no idea who I was referring to?
I think that you're defining "Palestinian" as one who has been oppressed by Israel and I think that it's bullshit.
If we're going to talk about Palestinians, let's talk about them in terms of what they really are. They're not an ethnicity, but a nationality without a nation. And they're a small subset of the Arabs who oppressed Jews in the Middle East for the past 1500 years.
Now, what does it even mean when a nationality without a nation disappears? -
-
Re: How many nuts to fill your own bowl?
Fri, September 8, 2006 - 9:32 AM"So, in 1919 they considered themselves part of Greater Syria
Then in 1920, everyone in the new Palestinian Mandate suddenly became Palestinians (except perhaps the Jews who lived there)."
- I think your missing the point here Adam. Did you not ask me to specify who I was referring to when I say the term "Palestinian?" I'm not saying anybody suddenly became anybody... I'm telling you exactly what I mean by "Palestinian." I thought that was the question. In other words, if I were to mention a particular group of people who resided in the Palestinian mandate area in 1919, I would refer to them as just that... those who resided in the region at that time.
"Then in 1920, everyone in the new Palestinian Mandate suddenly became Palestinians (except perhaps the Jews who lived there)."
- Still missing the point. No, they didn't suddenly become Palestinians, but I will refer to them as such if it happens to come up in conversation. Listen to what your saying Adam. Did the Native Americans suddenly become Americans when America was founded?
"Then in 1946, all of the Palestinians in Jordan stopped being Palestinians and suddenly became Jordanians."
- Again, NO! I will refer to any people who reside in Jordan after the date of it's creation as Jordanians. This is getting repetitive Adam.
- I will refrain from answer the rest of your senseless questions with the same answer... okay? Ask yourself this question (assuming your American). If you moved to Britain, would you refer to yourself as British? Pretty stupid f#cking question isn't it Adam? Thats exactly how I see this barrage of questions that you just posted. Get this through your head! You asked me to state who I was referring to when I say the word "Palestinian." And I told you. I'm not gonna debate the ifs, whens, and where's regarding when the Palestinian people came into existence for several reasons, most importantly, cuz I don't give a damn! It's irrelevant to the debate. As long as you know what I mean when I say it. So, now you know. So, let's back up now. Do you now know who I was referring to when I said: "and actually tried to justify it by saying that the International community would "get over it" in a year or two but that the "long term objectives" (Palestinians no longer existing) would be worth it." It's actually a rhetorical question. I know you know who I was referring to, you just felt like being an ass and joining Halla's "goof-troop." Cuz in fact, it is obvious that with that statement, I was referring to the present time. Stop being an ass Adam. Your better than that.
"I think that you're defining "Palestinian" as one who has been oppressed by Israel and I think that it's bullshit. "
- Huh? The Palestinians haven't been oppressed by Israel? Were you visited recently by the Israeli Foreign Ministry or something?
"If we're going to talk about Palestinians, let's talk about them in terms of what they really are. They're not an ethnicity, but a nationality without a nation."
- Regardless, do you know who I am referring to when I say Palestinians? Especially in regards to current issues? Then what other reason for this bullshit other than to try and drag the debate into something entirely different?
"And they're a small subset of the Arabs who oppressed Jews in the Middle East for the past 1500 years."
- Oh... So the Palestinians are oppressing the Jews now? There the one's bulldozing homes in Israel. I get it now. And to think, all this time I've had it backwards. Thank you for clearing it up now.
"Now, what does it even mean when a nationality without a nation disappears?"
- I hope your not implying that it's "okay" to completely kill off a people because they don't have a nation. In that case, with your logic, it was okay for the Nazi's to do what they were trying to do? And it was okay for the Europeans to practically kill off the Native Americans?
My question was, who are you referring to when you say "Israeli?" -
-

Israelis are citizens of the state of Israel.

If you're going to talk about Israel oppressing the Palestinians, or about the Palestinians disappearing, then you had damn well better clarify exactly who and what the Palestinians are.
> hope your not implying that it's "okay" to completely kill off a people because they don't have a nation.
If the Palestinians as a people suddenly leapt into existence 60 years ago, then what would be lost if they suddenly leapt out of existence as a people today?
Not through death, but, for example, by suddenly becoming Jordanian like half of them did in 1946.
> The Palestinians haven't been oppressed by Israel?
Sure they have. But by your definition, everyone who has been oppressed by Israel is a Palestinian. If they haven't been oppressed by Israel then they are instead an Israeli Arab, a Jordanian Arab, or Syrian Arab.
It's a great way to try to absolve them of responsibility. Like claiming that the "Palestinians" only have this peace of land, when in actuality the Arabs got all of Jordan and Syria, plus what is now Palestine, and the Jews only have a sliver of land.
> So the Palestinians are oppressing the Jews now?
Nope, but they are part of a group that had been oppressing Jews for 1500 years. -

"Sure they have. But by your definition, everyone who has been oppressed by Israel is a Palestinian. If they haven't been oppressed by Israel then they are instead an Israeli Arab, a Jordanian Arab, or Syrian Arab."
- Oh, I see where we've gotten confused... lol Get this straight. I, in no way, shape, or form said that everyone who's been oppressed by Israel is a Palestinian. That was an assumption that you made, and falsely too. You completely confused everything I said. I hate communicating on the internet. :-) I have no way of explaining exactly where you went wrong in your assumptions so you'll just have to take my word for it when I say that is ABSOLUTELY NOT what I was saying. We've had a misunderstanding Adam. I see now why you were getting so over-zealous about this... lol
"Like claiming that the "Palestinians" only have this peace of land, when in actuality the Arabs got all of Jordan and Syria, plus what is now Palestine, and the Jews only have a sliver of land."
- So your saying that Israel is justified in taking that land because the Arabs got all of that other land? Aren't you completely disregarding the Palestinian people and bottling them up into this broad category called "Arabs?" So, by that logic... My neighbor who lives on the opposite side of the street is justified in taking my pool because 10 other people on my side of the street have pools and nobody on his side has one?
"Nope, but they are part of a group that had been oppressing Jews for 1500 years."
- Listen to what you just said. "They're part of a group..."??? So I should hate white people because they are part of a group who has been oppressing black people for years? -

You've already put them into groups. Not only that, you've created this group of people that suddenly appeared into existence 1948 or something.
You argue that the Israelis are oppressing the Palestinians, right? (though we still aren't quite sure who the Palestinians are). Is that not grouping people?
I'm just putting them into other groups which better reflect the history. And my grouping is much less arbitrary. The Arabs as a people have centuries of shared history, culture, tradition, and language.
The Israelis are currently oppressing a small subset of these Arabs who had oppressed the Jews for the past 1500 years.
> So I should hate white people because they are part of a group who has been oppressing black people for years?
I don't hate any of the Arabs. But after 1500 years of the Jews being oppressed by the Arabs, I think that after that the Jews have a right to have a bit of autonomy.

Re: How many nuts to fill your own bowl?
Fri, September 8, 2006 - 8:35 PMj-unread the maker of peoples, the arbiter of societies doesn't know what he is talking about with the concept of Palestinian, but pontificates on it. the concept of Palestinian was an arbitrary construction created by people such as the Egyptian Arafat in an effort to meld an identity of a group of Arabs to a particular area in the middle east.
<<"Yes, the existence of a separate Palestinian identity serves only tactical purposes. The founding of a Palestinian state is a new tool in the continuing battle against Israel...">>
- Zuheir Muhsin, late Military Department head of the PLO and member of its Executive Council (Dutch daily Trouw, March 1977)
i mean who should own Palestine if not the palestinians?? so the Arabs created the Palestinian identity.
but who was a Palestinian?? before 48 Jews and Arabs would have fit into that category. it was in the Palestinian national charter that Palestinian became synonymous with Arabs living in the area. that event took place in July 17, 1968. what were the requirements for this bond between Arab and Palestine??
<<Article 5. Palestinians are Arab citizens who were normally resident in Palestine until 1947. This includes both those who were forced to leave or who stayed in Palestine. Anyone born to a Palestinian father after that date, whether inside or outside Palestine, is a Palestinian.>>
<<Article 6. Jews who were normally resident in Palestine up to the beginning of the Zionist invasion are Palestinians.>>
surely even j-unread can parse such a blunt statement. the Jews did not have inheritability but the Arabs did.
now with the formal declaration by the Arab as to who was wasn't a Palestinian one might ask about the climate was that produced the need of the definition in the first place.
another question: why did brother Arabs (Egypt/Jordan) keep the local Arab population of Palestine in refugee camps in the Palestine area if there was such an indentity?
j-unread: << uhhh... I'm thinking no! If you don't know "who and what the Palestinians are" thats your problem. Not mine. >>
it is j-unread problem. without a consensus as to what/whom are palestinians just how far can this discussion go.

As long as the person who I am talking to knows relatively who I am referring to when I say the term "Palestinian," thats all that matters. I don't give a flying f#ck when, where, or how the Palestinians came about. When I say "Professional Basketball Player," you know that I'm mainly talking about those who play in the NBA or maybe even in some other Professional Euro league... right? Even though there are plenty of people who could be considered "Professional Basketball Players" who don't play in the NBA or in any major European league. ie. Some street ball basketball players (AND-1) make quite a good living off of it, therefore, are technically considered "Professional," however, most semi-intelligent people would know who I am referring to when I say the term "Professional Basketball Player" (Palestinian). -

- uhhh... No! You still seize to understand my stance. I don't care who/what "Palestinians" are. As long as you know who I am talking about. I'll make this all much, much simpler for you people who are having so much trouble with it. For now on, I will no longer use the term "Palestinian." From here on out I will refer to certain groups of people as either A. Squiggly-Squigs - Current inhabitants of Gaza / West Bank. Or B. Squiggly-Squoobs - recent ancestors of those who currently inhabit Gaza / West Bank AND those I have outlined in my previous "charter." How's that? Is that good enough for you people. You have one of the stupidest arguments I ever heard. Your basically saying that I must define everything I reference to. In that case, do I have to define "Israel?" When you say the term "Israel" Adam, what exactly do you mean? Are you referring to the land that Israel currently "owns?" Including, or excluding the settlements? Pre or Post 1967 boundaries? What about the land owned by Jews 2000 years ago? I don't know what you mean when you say the term "Israel." Pretty stupid f#cking argument isn't it?

Re: How many nuts to fill your own bowl?
Wed, September 13, 2006 - 2:27 AM"Who and what might disappear? Who and what is being oppresssed?"
- This even better outlines the absurdity of your argument. "Who and what might disappear?" Hmmm, well, let's think about it Adam. Considering that question is in the present tense, regarding present people of Palestine, wouldn't that imply that the people I was referring to are people who CURRENTLY consider themselves Palestinian? Wouldn't the context of your question / my statement, completely negate your arguments of prior persons being considered "Palestinian" or not and help to vindicate my theory that your just talking out of your ass and arguing for the sake of arguing? If I said "American's may be eliminated by the end of the year." Who do you think I'm referring to in that statement? Not the colonists... Not the native's... I'm probably referring to those people who are currently "Americans" huh? Stop being a jackass already...

Re: How many nuts to fill your own bowl?
Wed, September 13, 2006 - 2:32 AMMore for you Adam... on who I am referring to when stating the term "Palestinian."
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestinian
"Palestinians are people with family origins mainly in Palestine. Their religion is primarily Islam, with Christianity, Judaism, Druze, and other minorities. Today, they are mainly Arabic-speaking.
Under the British mandate period from 1918 to 1948, the term "Palestinian" referred to anyone native to Palestine, regardless of their religion; Muslim, Christian, Jew, or Druze. [1] Since the creation of Israel, the application of "Palestinian" to native Palestinian Jews has lessened, and they are now simply identified as "Israelis" and are not distinguished from the majority of Israeli Jews resultant from the modern Zionist migrations. While some also exclude Israeli Arabs from today's definition of "Palestinians," others do not. Thus the term over the centuries has largely shifted from a regional to an ethnic and a political description.
The Palestinian National Covenant, as revised by the Palestine Liberation Organization in 1968, defines Palestinians as those Arab citizens who were living normally in Palestine up to 1947, and all their descendants through the male line. For those who were Jewish, the requirement was that they had resided in Palestine until the beginning of the Zionist migrations. For this purpose, the Zionist migrations are considered to have begun in 1917.
The official designation of "Palestinian refugee" refers to anyone who registered as a Palestinian Refugee with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and any of those registrants' descendents in the male line. Under UNRWA's operational definition, Palestine refugees are persons whose normal place of residence was Palestine between June 1946 and May 1948, who lost both their homes and means of livelihood as a result of the 1948 Arab-Israeli conflict." -

Let's say that Berkeley finally succeeds in seceding from the Union.
A dramatic headline claims "All Americans in Berkeley are Gone!!!"
Don't you think that it would be important to discuss exactly what is meant by "American" and by "Gone"?
> More for you Adam... on who I am referring to when stating the term "Palestinian."
From your own post, it seems that there are a number of different definitions for Palestinian. And so, the word Palestinian is obviously not specific enough. If you want to seriously discuss the plight of the "Palestinians" you need to clarify exactly which Palestinians you are speaking about. -
-
Re: How many nuts to fill your own bowl?
Wed, September 13, 2006 - 4:20 AM"A dramatic headline claims "All Americans in Berkeley are Gone!!!"
Don't you think that it would be important to discuss exactly what is meant by "American" and by "Gone"?"
- uhhh... No. I think that in this day in age, if you have a misunderstanding of what the terms "American" and "Gone" mean in 99.9% of the cases, then you lack the intelligence for me to even be speaking to you in the first place. At this moment, 99% of the time, "American" means those who reside in, or are citizens of the US ... unless in the SPECIFIC CONTEXT of relating to the continents of America, at which point the terms "North America, Central America, or South America" are used. Anybody who assumes someone using the term "American" is referring to Canadians, or Mexicans, or anybody other than US citizens, is doing so illogically. Knowing that the term "American" is used to describe US citizens a majority of the time, and then assuming otherwise, is just stupid, if you ask me... And as far as the term "Gone," I was unaware that there was such a controversy over the exact meaning of it. Care to explain to me how someone might refer to the word "Gone" other than in the context of meaning actually "Gone?"
"If you want to seriously discuss the plight of the "Palestinians" you need to clarify exactly which Palestinians you are speaking about."
- OH! So now its "which Palestinians I am speaking about!" So you've conceded to what my point was all along? So you mean to tell me that you had no idea "which Palestinians I was speaking about" when I said: "and actually tried to justify it by saying that the International community would "get over it" in a year or two but that the "long term objectives" (Palestinians no longer existing) would be worth it." "j-unread at j-uread's most unread, wallowing in igorance membraned in opinion.
<<Palestinians no longer existing>>
for just how long have the "palestinians" existed??"
Conclusion:
What the f#ck does how long the Palestinians existed have to do with my original post?!?! I stated that some people would like it so the Palestinians no longer existed. Everyone in their right mind knows who the f#ck I'm referring to when I, or anybody else for that matter, says "Palestinian." So what the f#ck is the point? That Halla can get you to tag along in trying to change the subject of debate? Would you rather I have said "the former occupants of modern day Israel and current occupants of Gaza and the West Bank?" Everybody in the f#cking tribe uses the term "Palestinian" to denote the same god damn people including yourself, regardless if we are referring to a period in 2000b.c. or today... so why all of a sudden this bullshit about using the term "Palestinian?" You've sunk to a new low Adam. I'm disappointed. Next time you mention the term "Israeli" remind me to inform you that there was no such thing, post-biblical and prior to 1948, in an attempt to derail the debate.

Re: How many nuts to fill your own bowl?
Wed, September 6, 2006 - 5:34 PM<<Media-heads who wish to characterize Muslims as crazy people that need elimination.>>
this drips with ignorance.
<<All of whom ignore the opinions of most Muslims on those very topics.>>
are we talking about the mewling masses or are we talking the "leaders of the pack"??
if we are talking "leaders of the pack" then let's review two of allah axioms
Sura 8:39: "So fight them so that sedition might end and obedience is wholly Allah's"
Sura 9:123: "Fight the unbelievers who are near to you, and let them find ruthlessness in you." -

I try to give a definition of a real victim.
A real victim is someone who involuntary suffers or dies.
I use the word real because a lot of people like to play the victim.
My suffering is worse than your suffering is their topic. Long discussions follow.
